Change how the board looks
Settings is a drawer off the rail, and it covers how the board looks and behaves — nothing else. There is no Save button because there is nothing to save.

Before you start
- Nothing. Settings is in the rail, below Account.
Steps
Open Settings from the rail
It slides in over the board rather than replacing it, so you can see what a change does as you make it. Every control saves the moment you touch it — there is no draft and no Save.
Pick a theme
Default is the near-black violet board, Gray is lighter with the purple kept in the accents, and Light is white surfaces with purple accents.
A theme is colours only. Spacing, type sizes and layout are identical in all three, so switching never moves anything.
Set the density and the timestamps
Card density — compact, cosy or roomy — changes the padding inside a card and therefore how many columns fit across the board.
Show timestamps turns the created date along the top of each card on or off. Note that search still matches the date either way.
Set how the board behaves
Sort by is the same control as in the board header, kept here because it is a preference that sticks. Start with the composer open decides whether the capture box is expanded when the board loads, or is the one-line prompt. Confirm before deleting is on by default and worth leaving on.
What happens next
- Everything is saved against your account, so it follows you to another browser.
- Reset to defaults at the foot of the drawer puts every control on the screen back at once.
- Tag colours are not part of a theme — they label your own data and are set in the tag drawer.
If something goes wrong
Each row is what you see on screen. Symptoms are worded the way the app words them, so the sentence in front of you should be findable on this page.
- There is no Save button
- Correct — each control writes as you touch it. That is also why Reset can honestly claim to cover everything in the drawer.
- You are looking for your display name or your email
- Those are on the Account page, not in this drawer: nothing about them changes the board. The email is not editable there, and the display name is not editable today at all.
- There is no way to pick your own accent colour
- Removed deliberately. Each theme’s accent is chosen against that theme’s own surfaces, which an arbitrary colour cannot be — an old stored choice is simply ignored.
- A tag colour looks wrong after switching theme
- A tag colour is yours and is not restated per theme, so something very pale picked on the dark board can wash out on the light one. Recolour it in the tag drawer.
- A setting did not follow you to another device
- They are stored against the account, so a reload should bring them across. If it did not, you may be signed into a different account than you think.
Next
- Find things on the board — Search, sort, the rail’s views, and the counts beside them. What search can and cannot see.
- Organize with tags — Tags are typed, never picked from a list. How to make one, rename it, recolour it, and why empty ones vanish.
- Pin, archive and delete — Three different ways of getting something out of your way, only one of which is permanent.
