Share an item by link

Before you start

• A note or a checklist. Encrypted notes and file items have no Share option, deliberately.

Steps

1. Open the card’s ⋯ menu

   Hover the card, then Share… in the overflow menu beside the archive button.

2. Copy the link

   A small dialog opens while the link is being made and fills in a moment later. Copy puts it on the clipboard; if the browser will not allow that, the link is selectable and the dialog says so.

   Read what it says underneath: anyone with this link can read this item, and it expires in 24 hours.

3. Send it

   Whoever opens it sees the item’s text on a plain page — no tags, no date, no account, nothing else of yours. They cannot edit it and cannot reach anything else on your board.

What happens next

• The link works for 24 hours and then stops. Nothing has to be tidied up afterwards.
• Making a second link to the same item is fine — both are valid at once, and each expires on its own clock.
• A shared checklist is read-only: the reader sees which items are ticked and cannot change them.

If something goes wrong

Each row is what you see on screen. Symptoms are worded the way the app words them, so the sentence in front of you should be findable on this page.

There is no Share option on the card

It is a note or a checklist only. An encrypted note’s body is meant to leave one reveal at a time, and a file item’s bytes stay behind your sign-in — neither can be handed to a stranger by link.

You want to un-share something

There is no revoke today. The link stops working within a day; until then, assume anybody holding it can read the item.

The recipient says the link has expired

Links last 24 hours from when they were made — not from when they were opened. Make a fresh one.

The dialog is stuck on “Making a link…”

The request did not come back. Close it and try again; a notice on the board will say if something went wrong.

Could the link end up in a search engine?

The page asks crawlers not to index it, but that is best effort — a crawler that ignores the request is not stopped by it. The expiry is the real protection, so treat a link as public while it lives.
